4'33 is a project devoted to a more connected, decelerated, deeply engaged life.

Its coordinates are: sitting meditation, deep listening, and third spaces.

We gather in listening bars, recording studios, out in nature, or in sonically rich parts of the city. We begin in silence, sitting still and absorbing the sound around us.

From that space of amplified concentration, we listen to one album or long-form composition in full.

Sometimes the session ends there. Sometimes we make sencha and talk.

No belief system required. No dress code.

Meditation here is a technique, not an identity. Something anyone can learn and apply.

Just be present. Observe. Listen.

The name is a nod to John Cage and his work 4′33″, which reminds us that every space is a composition. We just have to stop and hear it.

In the spirit of the original ongaku kissas — listening bars — out of respect for the music, when it plays, conversations stop.
